Orcutt Union School District Early Learning Center Preschool

Following the recent declaration of a national emergency by our President, the Governor's Executive Orders, and the growing concerns for our staff and student safety, the Orcutt Union School District has made the extremely difficult decision to close all schools for students beginning Monday, March 16th through the end of the academic year. This includes the Early Learning Center as well.
Please be aware that free lunches for children from birth to age 18 are available for pickup every weekday. There is a flyer with details about the free lunch program here.

Due to the COVID-19 closure, enrollment and registration for the 2020-2021 school year is postponed until further notice.  As soon as shelter-in-place guidelines have been lifted, we will begin to schedule enrollment meetings.
Please check the Income Guidelines page to see if your family qualifies (amounts listed are gross dollars, before taxes).

If you feel you qualify and would like to have your child placed on a wait list please email Lorie Bouget at lbouget@orcutt-schools.net

Please include:
Your name
Your student's name
Your student's date of birth
Your address
Your phone number

Your estimated gross monthly income

Students are placed based on age (four year-old students first) and income ranking.

Orcutt Union School District Early Learning Center Preschool

The Early Learning Center (ELC) is located at 610 Pinal Avenue in Orcutt on the campus of Orcutt Academy High School. The Center is part of the California State Preschool Program and is licensed by the California Department of Social Services. The ELC offers a free half-day program for four and three year old children from low to moderate income families. Currently, our two sessions are held from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, following the Orcutt Union School District calendar.
Young children learn best through play. We use this core belief to create a thematic curriculum that is rich in play, art, science, math, music, and literature. Our program supports each child as they grow and mature in the four domains: intellect, social, emotional, and physical.
Another important component of our program is our collaboration with the Santa Barbara County Office of Education to provide early intervention and screening for students in need.
Parents are teachers tooParent participation is very important to our program. The three hours of volunteer time in your student's class, once every two weeks, will have a great impact on your child's success. You will help in the classroom and also learn techniques to increase your skills as your child’s most important and influential teacher.
