NWEA

The Orcutt Union School District began utilizing an assessment program in all of our district schools during the 2009/10 school year. The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) assessment program is a technology-based system that focuses on individual student growth in three academic areas: Language, Mathematics, and Reading. The District began using the California Common Core State Standards (CCCSS) version of the assessment in the 2013/14 school year which may result in fluctuations in student scores, including drops in scores. More information on shifts in student test scores as a result of the new version of the assessment can be found here

The assessments referred to as Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), are given three times per year to students in grades 1-6, and two times per year to students in grades 7-8. Teachers have access to the results within 48 hours. Information generated from the student reports will be shared with parents throughout the year. If you have questions about NWEA, please contact your child's teacher and/or principal or Dr. Holly Edds, Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services at 938-8929. You can also visit the NWEA website at www.nwea.org.
