Independent Study

Available in Grades TK-8 in 2021-2022

Under AB 130, the budget trailer legislation that became law in July 2021, the Orcutt Union School District is required to offer families of students in grades TK-8 independent study as an educational choice for the 2021-2022 school year (California Education Code Section 51745).

For interested families, the district will provide independent study through the Orcutt School for Independent Study (OSIS) Program.
OSIS offers students:

  1. a blended option, which includes three days of on-campus instruction and two days of home study
  2. a home study option in which all schoolwork is done at home.

Parents of students in grades TK-8 with an interest in independent study are invited to contact Mrs. Dana Alford of OSIS by phone at (805) 937-6515 or by email at OSIS currently is enrolling students for 2021-2022.
