Intradistrict Transfer Requests (one OUSD school to another OUSD school)
Intradistrict Transfer Request Form
Students living within the boundaries of Orcutt Union School District may request attendance in another school located within the boundaries of Orcutt Union School District during the open enrollment period. The Open Enrollment period for Intradistrict Transfer Requests is from March 1st through April 15th. Placements are made based on space availability at the requested school. Please complete an Intradistrict Transfer Form and submit the form to the OUSD Enrollment Office.
- District transportation will not be provided.
- Approval will be granted on the basis of space availability after families who live in the attendance area are placed.
- Approval may be revoked at any time if the student fails to comply with school attendance, student performance and discipline policies.
- If there are more students desiring a transfer than space allows, a lottery will be held. After all school resident students are enrolled, the order for placement is:
- Student is currently attending the school due to a previously approved transfer or having resided in the attendance area immediately prior to this request.
- Student’s parent is a permanent employee of Orcutt Union School District.
- Student has a sibling attending the school during the same academic year.
- Student has a need for childcare within the attendance area of the requested school and the care is verified by the childcare provider.
- All other Orcutt Union School District students requesting transfers.
-
Interdistrict Transfer Requests
To begin the process, request a boundary transfer agreement from your district of residence.
Students who live outside the boundaries of Orcutt Union School District and wish to attend a school in the Orcutt Union School District may apply for a transfer during Open Enrollment. The Open Enrollment period for interdistrict transfer requests is from March 1st through April 15th. Applications for interdistrict transfers are available at your school district of residence. Once your district of residence has approved your student(s), your request will be forwarded to OUSD for review. Due to space limitations, only a very limited number of new transfers are accepted by Orcutt Union School District each year. Interdistrict students are placed only after all intradistrict transfer requests have been granted.
Students attending on an interdistrict transfer are expected to maintain satisfactory grades, attendance, and citizenship. Students who fail to meet these standards can, and will, have their transfers rescinded. When this happens, the student will need to return to their school district of residence.
- Satisfactory grades are determined as a passing grade (C or above) in the subject areas of Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
- Satisfactory attendance is determined by an attendance rate of 95% or above.
- Satisfactory citizenship is determined by no suspensions.
Parents will be notified in writing of denied interdistrict transfer decisions. Additional information regarding Interdistrict transfers may be found in Board Policy 5117-BP Interdistrict Attendance located in the Series 5000 section of the Board Policies & Administrative Regulations page.
Education Code Section 46601 requires that you be informed of the following in the event your interdistrict transfer request is denied:
- You have the right to appeal this denial to the Santa Barbara County Board of Education.
- You may appeal this decision within 30 calendar days. Failure to appeal within the required time is good cause for denial of an appeal. An appeal shall be accepted only upon verification by the Santa Barbara County Board of Education’s designee that appeals within the districts have been exhausted.
- The Santa Barbara County Board of Education shall, within 30 calendar days after the appeal is filed, determine whether the pupil should be permitted to attend in the district in which the pupil desires to attend and the applicable period of time.
-
