California Healthy Kids Survey

California now requires school districts and charter schools to annually administer a school climate survey. Student participation in school climate surveys is voluntary. These surveys are anonymous and provide schools valuable information on our students’ perspective on numerous topics related to health and safety. 
 

Parents of students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 will be sent communication about the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) via ParentSquare. For grade 5, parents must give permission for their students to take the survey by submitting an online permission form. For grades 7, 9, and 11, parents must specifically communicate to their child’s principal that they do not consent for their student to take the survey.
